Tyler Simao finished his career in style, throwing a six-hit shutout Tuesday night as the University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball team split with Academy of Art at Wong Stadium to end its season.

Simao, one of five Vulcans seniors, struck out eight and gave up just six hits with three walks for UHH (15-33, 12-27 PacWest) in a 4-0 victory in Game 1.

Senior Steven Riddle gave the Vulcans the lead with a two-run double in the sixth.

In the second game, senior Bryan Raines struck out six but took the loss in the Urban Knights’ 6-2 victory.

Jonathan James had three hits on the day for UHH, which could muster only two hits in the nightcap against three Academy of Art pitchers. The Knights finished the season 6-40, 6-30.

Also playing in their final games for the Vulcans were Tyson Goo and Daniel Reitz.
